Infertility Evaluation

Male and female partners are encouraged to seek medical help earlier to find any causes of infertility and provide effective treatment that may prevent further damage to the reproductive system. The causes of infertility are just as likely to be in the male as the female.
The physician who specializes in reproductive medicine's first task is to accurately rule out any conditions that may cause infertility in the male and female partner. Once a diagnosis is made, the specialists can determine the most optimal course of treatment for the couple. The purpose of your medical histories, examinations, and any laboratory or other testing is to help determine the answer to four key questions:

1.Is the female ovulating regularly?
2.Is the male producing healthy viable sperm?
3.Are the female's egg and the male's sperm able to unite and grow normally?
4.Are there any obstacles to proper implantation and maintenance of the pregnancy?

Practices who specialize in the treatment of infertility understand your anxiety and need for confidential, empathetic care. The  staff will explain what to expect in your first appointment and the nurses, laboratory staff and physician will explain why a procedure is needed and how it will be performed. They anticipate most questions, and will discuss any question or concern. Patient education is a large part of the treatment of infertility.
